Cloud backup is a service in which the data and applications on a business’s servers are backed up and stored on a remote server. Businesses opt to back up to the cloud to keep files and data readily available in the event of a system failure, outage or natural disaster.

The backed up files, applications, virtual machines or servers are stored safely on a remote network of computing resources that you access via the internet. 'The cloud' refers to that network of connected computer resources.

Cloud backup for business operates by copying and storing your server’s files to a server in a different physical location. A business can back up some, or all server files, depending on its preference and business requirements

The primary SLA of Microsoft regarding Office 365 is the uptime of Office 365 applications. Microsoft implements protection of their infrastructure to help provide their services within SLA but does not include protecting your data which is still at risk. 

1) Accidental Deletion: Accidental deletion of mailboxes, important emails, SharePoint site or
OneDrive document.
2) Retention Policy Confusion/Gaps: Office 365 has limited capability in terms of long term
data retention. Microsoft backup policies do not guarantee a complete and speedy restore of
lost data.
3) Malicious insiders / departing employees: Deliberate data deletion. Hacking, viruses/
malware, and ransomware leading to data corruption, encryption and/or data loss.
4) Compliance: Industry compliance regulations require businesses/organizations to ensure
